About Me:
Greetings to you, Reader! (-:
I grew up in the United States, in the green foothills of a coastal mountainrange where the wind blowing through the pine trees was the first music my baby ears heard outside my mother’s womb. But now I am and opera singer living in Austria, the birthplace of classical music.
You can learn more about me on my website, www.rebeccafromherz.com, though here I will write that singing, the very act of letting go of Who I Am, of allowing Me to fly on the wings of music that rings throughout Eternity from the most deeply-mined of brilliant-composer-hearts, has taught me what life is all about.
A few years ago I took an audition trip to Düsseldorf in Germany. My body, mind, and soul were vibrating with the knowledge that something. Something was just out of reach, was waiting for me behind a curtain–onstage, where I wanted to be. Up until then the curtain had been iron and brick, a barrier I kept banging against in tears and cries…but then, as if in a dream, I was lead to understand and feel the softness of the curtain, the velvet touch it was transforming in to…a deep red, inviting me in. On this trip I chose a museum at random and was led immediately to this drawing by Paul Klee. It’s called ‘Hat Kopf, Hand, Fuß’ or ‘Has Head, Hand, Foot’. When I know how to post it here I will, so you can see it. Klee drew it in 1930 (he died in 1940), 3 years before he left Germany and returned to Switzerland, where he was born. Hitler deemed his work ‘degenerate’. Interestingly Klee was also an accomplished violinist who played with the Bern Symphony.
The drawing opened the curtain to my Heart, which lies in the center of the picture, small but emanating warmth even amidst the sometimes disconnected feelings in life (Klee depicts a disconnected arm with two hands, a head and two legs with feet, situated around the emanating heart)…the Heart, or Love, always has been full or complete, beyond and above all, and hope shows that it always will be.
I look forward here to meeting other musicians and “life-artists” who are looking for Truth and Love and wanting to make a difference.
With best wishes,
Rebecca
